does anyone know how much taller the SPX is than the SP1?i would think with the runners being straighter and the SPX being more like a victor JR intake then the SP1 the SPX would be taller. i'm thinking of upgrading to the SPX and i was wondering for hood clearance reasons..chime in with your answers if you have any idea . thanks mike

I used the kb coolrunner on my 65. I angle milled the top 3 degrees to level the carb. It was shorter than the sp-1. DOn't remember how much, info is at the shop. Jim Burek

If I remember right, they are just about the same. It looks taller because of the dropped valley. The TA version will already have the angled carb pad.

dave, why would you guys not raise the intake runners to get more volume , and a straighter shot to the valves like the victor jr intake? seems to me if your going to make an intake like that you might as well make it for the higher rpm range and not worry about hood clearance and such . if that is the case what is the benefit of going to the SPX other than the cooling option?, just a thought . mike

I removed an SP1 and installed a SPX and did not even have to trim the foam which seals my ram air tub to my hood.

I saw no difference in height.

Say Wayne, which intake runs better, which has more torque, HP etc?

Paul, I broke the frist rule of engineering and cahnged two things at one time so I can not answer the question. I changed heads from Iron flowing 260 I to the aluminum flowing 330 I and the intake all at the same time. I changeded no jetting in my King Demon, I left it 93 square as it came from BG. The car picked up 0.610 from this change, the last time for the iron heads was at the BPG meet and the first run for the new combo was at Norwalk take 2.
