i have a 63 M20 for my buick. as many of you know, that means wide ratio with a 7/8" countershaft. The tranny needs a rebuild, it will pop right out of fourth gear. I was tooling around on the autogear website and I noticed that the super case is available for the 7/8" countershaft style muncie. The gears in the tranny are fine. How bad of an idea would it be to take the gears I own and throw it in a super case with the iron midplate. my guess is I'd never hurt it. What do you guys think?

I might suggest that if your trans slips out of 4th gear, then maybe the gears are not fine. The sliders and syncro teeth on the side of the gears are likely very worn.

The supercase idea is good howeve keep in mind that a rebuild kit, new sliders, review/replace some gears, purchasing the Supercase and installation is going to add up fast(likely $800 - $1,000). You may want to look at aqconvetional 1" countershaft unit before you spend that kind of $$$$.

Good point. If I need gears buying a 7/8" set would be dumb. I guess I should tear it down. This whole thing is pure speculation anyway. Either way, I'll have a super case tranny.

Is your shifter adjusted properly? I've seen a few pop out of gear , and the problem was the shifter not fully engaging a particular gear. Good luck. Adjustments are easy.
