Hi all, will soon be time to buy a intake to finish off my motor and drop it in the Chevelle. I was wondering if the SPX is a streetable intake that can make horsepower with normal driving conditions only revving to 5500 RPMS at the most?? Or is it more of a strip application itntake needing high revving to make power?? Don't want to waste my money on something that isn't good for what I what I'll be using it for. Any suggestions?? Thanks for any help. Gerald
I personally think you'd be better off with a Poston, or an Edelbrock Performer. Maybe at best an SP1. The SPX is for the higher end of the rpm range which you're just getting into at 5500.
It's better than a chevy engine in a buick......hey, at least the chevy will have a cool motor in it! -Cody
intake manifold Try the SP1 as it works very on the street or strip. Off idle to 6000 is really great. The performer is no better than a B4B just looks better. Ken
I ran all the intakes in my GS except for the S-Divider before i went the charger route. My favorite was and still is the wildcat (SPX). I was only running my car to 6000 and absolutely love the intake. I was able to run a little leaner jet with the SPX than the SP1 (old style) and the car was just all around smother........ The SPX didn't give up any noticiable every day driving power either........ Plus if you ever decide to go crazy...... you have the intake for it. Just my .02
