Does anyone know how much torque I should put on the bolts for a Poston Intake on a 68 Skylark motor? In what order do I tighten them? Also, should I be putting the oil pan bolts on in a certain order and do they have to be torqued a certain amount? Thanks for the continued good advice.

The torque is 55 or is it 80foot pounds? Anyway. The website www.taperformance.com has all this info and also the order of tightening the bolts.

it's 55 but i was going to wait for someone else to reply...i'm not sure if the torque numbers for aluminum intakes are different.

The performer aluminum I put on my BB called for 25-30 ft. lbs.

Alum. intakes require less torque. I installed my SP1 at 35lbs.:TU:

Someone also mentioned putting some silicone gasket around the edges of the intake. Is that necessary?

    Thanks for the torque answers.

You'll need some around the water ports and typically in the corners of the end rail seals. Some don't use the rubber end rails and just lay a nice bead of silcone for that. I used black RTV on mine.

Thanks. I did that when I put the intake on my V6 but then was told it wasn't necessary.

I'll use it on this one. I have the blue stuff.
