Reagrding taking action in a legal manner, I was directed to use an attorney in Texas, as he/she would be familiar with the options I had available at the time.

Do not forget, if he has your parts and has not sent them back from not doing any work, I believe it would be considered interstate theft. That federal crime may get farther than dealing with any state laws JB might have broken.

If I gave him $4200.00 and got nothing, I will pay him a visit on matter how faw away he is :Smarty:

I was wondering was he in in with Dick Bradshaw with the "bulldog" block and heads?

My thinking is yes, he gambled alot of our money, pushed all of his chips for an "all in" bet that the bulldog product would come out, He would have a partnership with the product and he would profit greatly from his "investment". As we all know, it went south from there. I dont understand why he took everyone else's money and not his own to fund this project. It wasnt his money yet until he exchanged a product for our money. I dont feel sorry for the guy in the least. He has had several years to make good on it. It is not going to happen without the legal systems involvement and even then, the "cant get blood from a turnip" saying fits.

I hope something happens that he makes good on all of this. I just dont see it occuring. I will make a last ditch effort to make get my money back. My gut feeling is it will fail. I will move on but future business dealings will not be handled the way I handled this one.

To the original poster, thank you for bringing this to light. In the past on this board, some members defended this guy saying what a stand up guy he was.
I received several PMs from members saying JB was the man. And being in Texas, it made sense. Only part of the whole process that was smooth was him taking my money. From that point on, it was hell.

    Buyers beware of PAE Enterprises.

    Update
    I received my engine yesterday.

It's a '68 430 block with my '67 big port heads upgraded with stage 1 valves, stock crank, rods, pistons with a mild cam (TA 212). Rebuilt original Q-jet, double roller timing chain, pertronix ignition, all the oil upgrades and an Edelbrock B4B intake.
It dyno'd at 450 hp and about 500 ft. lbs torque.
It looks and sounds very good. I won't drop it in until I replace the front brakes and brake lines. Then I'll put it all in.
What I did was paid him half of the fee up front and promised the other half when finished. I think that is a good rule. I used it on the contractors that worked on my house and they did not disappoint me.
I know Jim took about one year to get my engine done. But in all our conversations he was nothing but professional and curtious, and even though he was slow, I'm happy with the engine so far. I'm not defending him in regards to anyone else's experiences, I'm just sharing as honestly as I can my experience with Jim.
    Thank you

How often do you guys check back with your respective shops for fixes? Weekly? Bi-weekly?

A year for an engine build? Why not just build it yourself?

I rather have someone who does this for a living then do it myself. I've only done a few and I don't have the time, machines nor the experience. I priced having all the machine work and assembly done here locally and the end price was the same if I shipped the parts to Jim and had him do it all including the dyno.
So it was a no brainer.

    Cheers,
