Hi all, need some help. I have a 1971 Skylark 350. I bought a remanufactured HEI distributor for a 1975. I also got some sort a pink wire lead connector for Year One supposedly for the conversion. But I can't quite figure out where that hooks up and to what. Also, I belive I need a full 12 volts. Please explain step by step the best way to get the 12 volts, and how to hook it up. The cap has a 5 hook ups, but I am not running a tack. Besides the missing plug for the cap, there is also 3 wire to a connector that comes out of the distributor, what do these connect to????? :ball: :ball:

The 3 wire connector clips into the inside 3 contacts on the distributor cap. It can only go on one way. The only other connection you need is a key on 12 volts. That is what the pink wire is for. Locate the wire coming off your points coil. Follow it back through the harness, and you will see it enters the firewall harness connector. Note which wire it is. In the middle of the harness connector is a single bolt. Remove the bolt, and the front half of the harness connector will pull off. The individual wires clip into the harness connector with special barb type clips. If you look on one end of your Year One wire, you will see the barb clip. Using a needle nose pliers, compress the barb, and the wire will pull out through the front of the harness connector. Then just snap your Year One wire in, reassemble the harness connector, and check for battery voltage at the distributor end with the key on. Below is the barb type clip I am talking about. This is the right way to do it.
