This is in addendum to an earlier post.

I got my speedometer pulled out :beer After the suggestions on my earlier post it was a piece of cake

Where I am stuck now is the pointers ... How do I get them out ... :Do No:

    Any thoughts on that ....???

    Thanks in advance...

It should just pull off. Otherwise, check and see if there is a screw in the pointer base - loosen it and pull off. Grab the round part, though, not the needle itself.

What pointer is that? Are you talking about the shift indicator?? Does this help?

    Hmm, didn't think of that.

    Speedometer needle

It is the the 'speed' and the 'speed trip' needle, that I am having the problem with.

Your suggestions and support would be greatly appreciated.

    Best regards

Why would you need to remove the pointers? Are you trying to refurbish or clean the speedometer? If so, I think you are better off having someone do that for you. The needles probably pull off, but you may do damage that you can't undo. It's not like you can go out and buy a new one. Think about this. :Smarty:

It's almost impossible to get the needle back in the right spot after you have pulled it off. I've done it before, and I had to find another speedometer out of a donor car.

I think you are right. I shouldnot be messing with it. My odometer is not working, I thought I could fix it ... may be not!

I guess I will just buy another one from some where and see if that works.

Thanks for all the support guys!

You can send it to a speedometer shop. Let them look at it if you can't find another. Hemmings Motor News has listings, and I'm sure a few members of this Board can make some recommendations.

If the odometer is broken you don't need to the pull the needles off anyway. it bolts onto the backside of the speedo itself...only reason to pull needles would be for a better one or to rescreen the face....
