How Desirable/marketable is a '77 Regal?

Just got one of those stories from a friend (I'm sure you've all heard them):

"I have friend who has a '77 Regal in really great condition with 60k on a new engine. Owner says it is a collectors dream find. Owner is a meticulous car owner and if he says this car is great then it's beautiful. He wants to sell it"

The price seemed very reasonable to me. Is this a rare/collectible/desirable car? I don't have any more details - but I can get them. I thought about doing a quick buy & resell, or just passing on the info if anyone's interested.

    Thanks!

  2. its kind of the old story as years go by as well.
i like the 60's because thats how i started out. i drove 60's vintage cars back then. they where cheap and easy to get and now i spend lots of money on keeping them going
another genration and they like the 70's and so on and so on.
10 - 15 years ago it was all about the 50's.
my son likes the late 70's and got a car from his great grandad (79 lasabre)
he'll like thoughs years now. and probably the rest of his life.
collector yes i would say so. sooner or later for sure.
after the mid 70's and up into the 80's there where far to many front wheel drives and that is why we see all the ricers out there now.
    my thought on it

    chryco63 14's or bust!

I would agree with Greg... to the right person, from that era, it would be worth something. It depends a lot on what you grew up with.

    BF2KNIGHT Buickless for now

I'm one of "those" guys...my first car was a 75 Regal...I'd love to have a 77, but the equipment would have to be right with the right price. I could be interested....

While I was growing up, the cars at the local track were all g-bodies, guess that's why I like them just as much as the late 60's "muscle" cars.

I'll see if I can round up more info on the deal.

I really was more interested in it as a Buick collectible? I don't see many late 70's Buicks in people's signatures here - either because there's little interest in them as a collectible Buick or they're rare/hard to find.

Were there many produced? I never see that body style around unless its a Cutlass. Is there something undesirable about the body style or engineering? Just curious as to their scarcity (at least my perception of it)?

Unless it has some kind of really rare option or is a really looooow miles car that's in absolutely perfect condition, I don't think it would be worth alot, maybe 4-5k. :Do No:

    Mark,

I'll see what my friend can find out about the car. It was 'a friend of a friend' deal. I'll drop him an email tomorrow, but it may be early next week because of the holiday.

I'll post whatever I find out.

And if you don't want that one, I have a 1976 Regal that I'd sell for $700.

my opinion on this era of bodies, 73-87
round racing more popular, gm's reclaimed steel rust buckets, gas crunch, made all these cars great for entry level round racing.
any excellent untouched 73-87 car will appreciate one of theses days...when, ???
