Didn't see a thread for the supercharged cars, so I thought I'd start one. Here's my fully optioned 98 Riviera. It's got the SC3800, moonroof, heated seats, memory power seats, auto dim-heated mirrors, AM/FM/Cassette/CD. The color is Light Antelope Metallic, and it never looks dirty!
And my only addition, an Autometer mechanical oil pressure gauge and boost gauge, hidden behind a flip down panel, where the ashtray was(won't miss that)
I've been watching out for one, but haven't found anything even close to local yet. They all seem to be around the east coast.
The super charged 3.8's are a great motor with quite a bit of potential. Just ask any late model Grand Prix owner. I saw several street driven G.P.'s at Maple Grove running dep into the 12's. The earlier ones such as mid 90's had a problem sucking in the blower to manifod gaskets. They offered a slightly redesigned version which seemed to fix the problem. Try to check the bearing oil from time to time as this is the most common failure and you can not get parts seperately for them, you must replace the entire unit $$$$$$$$ A little bit smaller drive pulley, K&N filter, high flow exhaust.... Just watch out for torque steer... I almost wrecked a new Regal at work when the Superchargers came out. If I had just lifted it may have gone straight.
John, hope that's not a recent pic with all that snow! Great picture of a great car! Too bad we never got to run it against the Vette.
Wise guy Nice one wise guy!!! :moonu: As a matter of fact it is at least 3 years old. Notice the cresent moon shaped paint defect on the top of the fender. :ball: I was looking it over and now I think I'll have to do a complete repaint on it. The hood looks terrible with the clear-coat fogging up. And just about every edge is doing the same thing. o No: Maybe I'll just sand it down to bare metal and clear coat it like that... :bglasses: It would have been fun to run it against your Vette, but since it is stock, I don't think I would have stood much chance. Although I do think it runs a bit stronger since I put the new intake manifold gasket on there. I was thinking I may have misaligned my waste gate valve in that process, for the better... JohnD
I loved those cars (Rivs) when they came out. All I could think was, "Man if that thing is RWD I'm buyin one." I wonder how hard it would be to convert one to 455/2004R/12 bolt posi? Hmmm maybe a new business for me? Nahhhh it would cost more than the car sold for new... oh well.
The old Regal, it was just sitting in the garge slowly becoming a workbench/storage rack so I decided to sell it. Starting to look for a replacement.
Car number 20 of 200 produced Here is a shot of my Silver Arrow. 200 made in 1999, last of the Rivieras.
