Hello, Now that I have my 60's Buick tach working., I just wanted to make sure that my aftermarket coil won't harm the tach. I have a Pertronix (I installed it back when I had a Pertronix ignition system) Flamethrower 40,000 V coil --- that going to hurt/fry my tach? Link to the tach I'm talking about: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=143246 Here's a link to the coil: http://www.vintageperformance.com/retrorockets/coil1.htm THANKS
Not at all. Doesn't matter what the coil is rated at. The tach is just sensing how many times the coil is pulsed and converting it to RPM's on the tach. The only exception to that is an MSD which dumps 450+ volts into the coil. In that case the tach connects to the MSD box.
