    skitzofrenic66 What's an Import?

What actually makes that stupid "Hot" light come on when I'm driving? It's pretty obvious by now that its broken and I want to fix it so that it wont haunt me anymore. Any help is appreciated.

    thnx

Your suspicions are probably correct. Check the wire for a short somewhere. Or it could be the sender. Do you have a seperate water (edit: sorry, before I said fuel temp) temp gauge installed? I had the same problem with my 66 Electra. My 'restorer guy' said that it was impossible to get a reading from anywhere because we had removed the wire when we installed the new temp gauge. He shorted the end of it on the block to prove the point and sure enough the HOT light lit up.

Come to think of it I could probably use that dash light to tell me when I have high stall engaged (I use a manual switch inside the car for the switch pitch trans).

No seperate fuel temp gauges. Where is the sender itself so that I can chase those wires down. Is it near the fuel pump or mayby in-line?

Sorry Bryon. I said Fuel temp when of course I meant water temp.

I presume you're talking about a Nailhead? As you are standing in front of the car looking into the engine bay, look for a green wire that is part of the loom that runs down the left hand side between the head and the intake manifold. It should hook up onto the temp gauge sender unit that is at the front of the left hand head near the front.
