I am in the process of working out all the little inexpensive bugs that I can right now and the next one on my list is the Ignition Switch. A year or two ago, I was having problems with the car not cranking and I found that the black plastic connector that holds all the wires for the Ignition Switch was severely melted and dis-configured which was keeping a couple of the wires from making contact with the terminals, so I did what any frustrated stranded hack would do and I destroyed the black connector and just put all the wires on the switch directly. Well, that works most of the time but the wires are still getting extremely hot and occasionally the car wont crank unless I turn the key to run and go under the hood and jump the purple wire going to the starter relay to battery, then it cranks and fires up. Has anyone seen this problem?

    Thanks

usually those crap connectors gm used to assemble those plugs.the cheap copper weakens and stretches then you get high resistance connections then heat. get a modern pigtail or redo the connectors
