Hi guys my '02 Impala is closin' in on the warrany expiration date. I'v recieved many offers through the mail. Some are riduculous. I called Dealer Services, one guy said 5 yrs. 100,000 mi. for $3,500. When I asked for a shorter term, he transfered me to another guy who said the same 5 yrs. and mi. ,but for only $1,400.! :error: When asked for some mailed info, they replied "we do not send out open contracts." I replied that "I do not send money for something that is not put into writing!' Then he started to say how I couldn't go wrong since credit cards are covered in case of fraud!! (wonder why he said that :Brow: ) Someone pointed me to 1SourceAutoWarranty. I'v checked them out as well as I could and found them to be rated A+, also N.A.D.A. has some good things to say as well. I just want to know if anyone has any experience w/ any warranty companies. This one covers EVERYTHING that is not of course a wearable item. Even replaces trannys that slip, (had a friend that was stuck w/ one cause" it wasn't really broke") :spank: 5 yrs-100,000 mi, transferable, prorated if I sell early, Diamond package $1360, $100 ded. and not for ea. part either. I'm sure it's gonna see the inside of a shop along the way.
    Thanx, :beer

we bought a 3rd party used car warantee for my wife's 96 Subaru - that was in '01. She had to have both front and rear main seals done as well as the alt. and something else I cant remember. All were seperate claims at different times. Our local mechanic did the work and they paid him directly. He said they were great to deal with .... we of course thought so too as the colective bills would have been way more than the policy.

YES! But know what you are buying!

I have to preface this replay and state that I work for an aftermarket warranty company.

The biggest problem with aftermarket warranty companies is that so few have been in business or will stay in business very long. When this occurs you have a worthless contract.

I have had a ESC on every vehicle purchased since 1982 and have never regretted it once

Since you have a GM product, you might want to look into the General Motors Protection Plan .

I know that dealerships usually get a bad rap, but if you were traveling out of town at least you know a dealership would honor the extended coverage, while an independent shop (in a strange town) may want you to pay up front and have you get reimbursed from the provider.

Dwayne is exactly correct, having worked in a dealership service dept. for almost 12 years, I would only buy a GMPP extended warranty(though as a tech we get screwed by it) but if you are out of town any dealership will honor it, some "exteneded warranty contracts" are only good at the selling dealer!

Thanx guys. Who is your contract through (if not GM)?At first I WAS leanin' to GM but have been told some horror stories from THEIR employees, who happen to be friends of mine. You don't actually see the terms of the contract till after you pay :Do No: , That they will sometimes cancel your contract without telling you and pocket the $. And one of my favorites was a still employed parts mgr. ( ) who could not get his tranny replaced or "fixed" because it slipped a "little" ie. not "broken". "Dealer services" who I've contacted really thought I was stupid "hold on Mr. Peterson- lets see if I can talk my mgr. into getting you a "new car" warranty. Then when I ask for the 3 yr. warranty, they transfered me to another guy who started with the 5 yr 100000 mi all over again-BUT AT HALF $. He miraculously found that I was now able to save $1750 :puzzled: 1Source is where I'm leaning. They are A+ rated been in buisness for a long time and are recommended by N.A.D.A. 5 yrs 100,000 mi, any ASE station, rental, towing, etc. Anyone had any bad experiences w/ any co.?
    8 days remaining.......
