Hopefully not too dumb of a question....

I've pulled a few engines in my day, but never a Buick. This 400 motor of mine has 1 lifting eye on the front near the t-stat housing. Is this motor balanced enough to lift from only that lifting eye, or should you use a leveler and attach to the eye, and the other end to the same intake bolt opposit on the back corner? Every engine i've pulled has had two lifting eyes. This only has the one. But then again, i've never pulled a 69 Buick 400 before. Any comments?

    Thanks!

You'll definately need two lifting points, and yes the intake bolt aft and opposite is a good place to pick it. I'm sold on load leveler's, I won't even attempt an engine install without one, I installed my 400/700r4 combo by myself with with an engine crane/load leveler setup I got from CostCo for $189.

Why not two lifting eyes is what I want to know. Seems if you need two lift points, they would have put two lifting eyes in.:Do No: Did you pull the trans & the motor at the same time? I've got a Turbo400 and it seems it would be too hard to clear the firewall. Unless, maybe, I pulled the front radiator support out?

I think if you look closely you will see an eye cast into the rear of block on the opposite corner.
