I was at a friend's house in the Iowa countryside today when I noticed some chrome in one of his old barns.
I investigated and discovered 2 early `60's Buick wagons, a `29 Ford roadster steel body, and a couple of old Chevy pickups.
My friend said that they were his brother's and that he would likely sell me the wagons for pretty cheap.
One was a `64 Sportwagon, and the other was the older, smaller style with the 215 V8.
I should hear next week about the wagons, but am already all excited about acquiring one or both of them.
I used to own lots of musclecars when I was a kid, and my first car was a `61 Ford Ranchwagon.
I've been looking for a project to turn into a fun cruiser that me and the wife and kids could fit into and wouldn't have to be fast to be cool.
I think the Sportwagon would be perfect.
However, since they only made around 2000 of them in `64, I'm wondering if it should be restored instead of mildly rodded, or if it would really matter with that car.
Since I just found this site, I have lots of lurking to do before I start asking questions that have been answered a hundred times before.
Anyway, looks like a great site, and if I get the wagons, will be my new "home" for quite a while.

Yup you have been infected with Buickitis. There is no cure and it only gets worse. To relief the symptoms go buy both wagons and see how much better you feel.
Oh and you will also find it necessary to be here at least twice a day to get your cyber fix.

11 years ago I bought a mint `82 Electra Estate Wagon for my family vehicle. I loved that big old boat.
About that same time, I bought a `72 LeSabre 4dr hard top from the estate of a deceased old lady. It had 51,000 miles on it and was like new. The back seat had never been sat in, literally. The seat belts were still set the way they came from the factory. It had the 350 4bbl Wildcat motor in it. I paid $450 cash for it and proudly brought it home.
My wife instantly hated it and refused to even have it in the driveway. I sold it three days later to some high school kid for $800. He had it about two weeks and hit a train with it:rant: .
Today, after thinking about what motor would be nice in the `64 wagon, I went by that kid's house after 10 years of wondering what happened to that great old Lesabre.
Surprise, it is still sitting in his parent's backyard with a tarp over it, and the front end isn't really all that bad.
I will definately be stopping and seeing if they'll sell me back that car
