Hello all, I need some help.

I am sealing my scoop to my hood. Its the same mopar 6 pack scoop the Jim B. had on the car when he ran it, so I have a pretty good sized pan to seal up there, lol. And I also have a fairly large gap to fill towards the rear of the pan too(right at 5"s at the rear, scoop to the pan, 2"s scoop to pan at the front). I have the pan made and is fitted to the carb. and base. What I need to know is "what" kinda foam do I use to seal the pan to the under side of the hood ?? I assume that I don't want to use some really "fine" grade/type as this I "think" would defeat the purpose of the seal. So I, again, assume that I need a more dense type of foam for this, correct ?? Would a lighter foam push out under the pressure of driving down track and ramming the air in there ? Or am I off base here ? I would appreciate any help from anyone that has done this before with some success. Thanks in advance..............

I have a fairly soft foam on mine and it stays in place and conforms to the hood nice to. After I glued the foam to the pan I took some black spraypaint and painted the foam for looks and it probably helps cut down on air getting through the foam. Tom

Someone was talking about using fire-retardent foam, in case of backfires??

    Thanks guys I appreciate it.

I have some finer type foam that I have cut and made to fit. All I would have to do is glue it down and go try it I guess. Just wanted to get some input from yall that have done it before. May just have to run with it and see............

    Thanks again.......
