Hood hinge repair

    What is the best way to tighten the rivits on hood hinges, was thinking of useng a press but what to put on the end to mash the revit more. Did a search and could not come up with anythiing or it. Thanks Bill.

    Bill, THere is a company in New Hampshire I saw advertise that rebuilds hinges with new rivets to facotry Specs. I think they are callled SMS. Not same as faric guys. Do a search or I may be able to find their info as I have it somewhere.

    Drill the rivets out and machine your own bushings and special bolts and nuts. Of course, it helps to have a brother with a machine shop.

    They did mine...AWESOME JOB!

    They put in new rivets, and rephospahate them as well.

    The hinges look good. One thing I have seen on 69 and 70 hinges is that the drivers and pass rivets are pressed different one side is the X and the other side is center punched. I was just looking for a way to tighten the rivets not replace them and re do the hinges, thanks Bill.

    Hey paul thanks for posting those. Here my originals. The heads are countersunk with S and L. I know, 99.9% would not care long as they are functional :laugh:. I hate to ask what they charge for all that.
