    I have a 70 lark with a fiberglass flat hood/pin-on so there is no inserts.I gotta a 455 with a SP1 intake,1'' spacer and a demon carb.Can I use factory 70 455 aircleaner,if so can i modify the aircleaner another 1'' for air induction.

    Thanks,Frank

Hi, the short answer is NO WAY. I've gone through this already. If you use just the SP1, you have to use a drop base air cleaner with a 3" element. If you add the spacer, you can't use any air filter at all. In any case, you won't be able to use the factory air cleaner at all with a SP1.

You can use the factory setup with an Edelbrock intake, though.

This is all why I got a Skylark hood and put a Stage 2 scoop on it. This may be your best bet. Skylark hoods are cheap, or free. And it only takes about 15 minutes to swap hoods; as long as you have a friend or two around.

Here's a link to Doug Paine. He's got a Skylark hood for free right now:http://v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=41129

    Good luck.
