I bought a new Holley 1000cfm HP carb from Summit in 1999 or early 2000. I could never get the thing to idle. Plumes of black smoke when I left the lights(Steve Everist has plenty of pictures). Always had to clean out the carbon if you know what I mean.

Well, after the dyno session at Blood Enterprises, last week, Craig Blood took the throttle plate off and measured the main body. It measured the same as a 750 base. He looked it up in his catalog and found that indeed it was the wrong main body.

It was stamped from the factory as a 750 main body.:af:

He said that I would need to spend about $300. to get another main body and that there would be no sense in getting ahold of Holley. At four years old, there is no way that they would even listen to you.

I called up the tech department. They know me by name, first, middle, last, sons name, etc. I called them a lot trying to fix the carb.

They didn't believe me! That would have been the first time the tech guy said...Blah Blah Blah. Send it in they said.

I sent it Next Day delivery.

"Your right Mr. Henderson, It is a 750 main body. It is mis-labeled. We will send you out a brand new one."

He said that his supervisors are studying it right now. They have never seen that before.

So the moral of this story is: Believe the Holley Tech support when they say that they stand behind their work. 4 years later and they are sending a brand new 950. Yes, I asked for a 950 and not a annular discharge.
    :TU:

Thanks go to Craig Blood at Blood Enterprises for finding my problem. Also to Steve Everist for sending me the email that got me there to begin with.

    Thanks Steve:beer

    Sounds good Rick!
I hope it all works out, racing season is starting up soon. Now that we've seen the dyno numbers, we need to see some track numbers between your carbs.

Oh yeah, get that roll bar in there!!!

    Jim,
The difference between the 1000 and the 950 is really that much?
Also, With only a set of Greg Gesslers level 1 heads, will it be too much?
Can you enlighten me a little and expand on it. I do trust you.
