I thought the three-barrel was a 950. Did they make more than one size?

All things considered, I suspect you'd be MUCH better off with a newer 950 HP, or a dominator.

Hi, I've got a 950 3bbl, I'm looking to rebuild it some day.
The 3bbl came in both 950cfm and 1050cfm sizes.

What is so special about these carbs?Do they flow better or is it just a novelty factor or are they hard to find?

They came in 2 sizes, 950 & 1050 cfm. Just stick one on a nail head, or any eng. for that matter and just watch it come alive. The beauty is they will bolt onto a stock intake with only a little modification to the intake and will be reliable. no complex linkages, no special manifold required , just efficent, good, reliable, carbureation, with crisp throttle response.

Well, I'll offer what I know. The problem with the "3 Bbl" was that rear hole. Given the shape and size of the hole it didn't make a very good venturi. So what happened was, you didn't get a very good signal to the boosters, and therefore, the mixture quality suffered. Basically the hole was too big. It's no coincidence that Holley only made them for a short time. Nobody else has tried to make one since. You're definitely better off with a 950HP, unless you're purely going for the nostalgia factor. But, once it's on the car it looks like any other Holley. Just my 2 cents.

    Have fun.

I have a 3bbl. was in great shape when I got it 4 years ago. I did nothing with it for a couple years. then about a year ago I sent it to carb, shop in Calif. Had them go all through it, and trick it out. Looked better then new when I got it back. My Skylark already runs faster then NHRA says I can for no roll bar. Both race tracks here have sent me home early for running 11:90s. So I only ran it one weekend at the track. It was about 2 tenths quicker then my 850. I have been saving it for when I put a roll cage in my car, but I just cant bring myself to do it. I drive the car on the street some and I like the sleeper look., plus we use the back seat some and I know this would make that tough to get in and out. I would consider selling it. But I will have to ask around to see what its worth if your interested.?
