    Alan,

You and I have had this discussion before and you aren't fooling anyone here, you aren't buying this as an investment, you are buying it because you have always wanted a 69 Stage 1 convertible 4 speed and this may be your only chance to get one! :3gears:

If you want to know how good of an investment they aren't, just look at the concours (gold) green one that was on ebay and only got to $29,609 last time, or the one Tony had a hard time selling for $20k+ . Pretty sure the owners who had the restoration done had more than that invested!

Your car would be an absolute blast when finished, but probably not the best way to invest your money. :ball:

Put me in line for a finished one of those.

Remember when the 55-57 Chevys were being collected and the 58s were going into scrap metal? Now the shoe's on the other foot. Fads change. That's one thing we can plan on.

    69GS400s ...my own amusement ride!

Well.....I've already got a 69 GS Convert. thats a blast to drive and quite honestly I would hope and even expect to see the value rise because in a lot of ways I am looking at this one as an investment.

....and I bet Tony is alittle pissed at himself for the timing of the sale of his Stage1 Convert. He sold at least a few years before the current crest of the price wave

As for the Ebay car - I think anyone who's a Player for that car knows the seller is looking for the upper ceiling price-wise and most have backed away.

....or perhaps there is No Interest ??? Thats why I was loking for validity to GSXER's statement. Maybe he DOES have a crystal ball :Do No:

    Alan,
We know the prices for the 68-69 cars are going up. Remember the price I received for my 69 400? It sold within 2 days of being advertised. It was clean, but NOT mint....

Also, Chris (cjp69) is right about your next purchase... Plus, there is NO WAY you will loose on that one :beer ... Unless you store it up here in RI :pp

    BuickWidow 67 GS Needs help

I turned down 24,000 for my 68 4spd car. It's all who is buying at that moment.when no one wants to sell a 70-72 car the others will go up for someone who really wants a GS.

70-72 are the most Popular at this time. Granted.
Those cars are going to get to a point where they either won't be available
or get so out of line you will have to look at other venues. (there are a NUMBER of people that like the 68-9 cars for various reasons, also.)
65-7 Cars are getting stronger as well.
Personal Favorite is the 67. I have a lot of good memories of my Brother's, and just like the Design.
I could Never have done "Justice" to the 69 Stage1 I sold Gary LeGree, and wish I had it NOW.
So I have my 70 Convertible & the 72 (which is For Sale) and 20+ years of accumulated parts, that I am whittling down.

Im a dealer and own a body shop . I base my info on cars that have actually been documented as sales not rumors. Mostly auction houses and calling 2 month old ad's in used car papers to see if car was sold or not.Not BS storys about next door buddys sons girlfreinds fathers cars sold for 100k ...real actual sales that you can document .I love the 68/9 style as I own 3 converts myself .But I bet most of the current 68/9 style lovers have owned there cars for a long time ...there are not many younger enthuesist of this style .The latest muscle car craze has attracted newer buyers with cash and they go for the 70+ look.67/68/9 cars have always trailed 70+ cars and always will.I think I was misunderstood when I said 68/9 cars were dead . I ment it from a financial perspective... as after all this is why this thread was started. If you are looking to sell your 68/9 car for big $ than you will be disappointed they are far from bringing GSX $.Most nice 68/9 cars trade in 15K area ..and the car better be good!Heres my example I brought my GSX about 3 years ago for 14k turned down a recent 28k offer. I recently sold a similiar condition 69 GS convert for 10K and I brought the car for 8K about the same time.I had 3 customers that arrived and relized that the car was 69 style not the 70 look they always saw and reconized with a Buick GS.I wish I brought the guys other GSX aswell. The point is if you dig the 68/9 than drive and enjoy them but dont look for your cars value to double any time soon.

    p.s excuse the spelling

It's also been warm most places around the country for a while, and with Ebay having become a ginuwine car-shopping haven, attracting nearly anyone, this may be part of why some cars are going for more at the moment.
Peeps is just gettin antsy to get that car, NOW. And there was a post recently about how rich kids are getting cool musclecars now, instead of new toys. Just my 2.
I agree, I definitely like the 60's GS's better, they are distinctive, with cool little touches in a bunch of places. The 70's look too much like Chevettes

    69 GS 4-speed Convertible

I have a friend that is rebuilding a 69 GS 4-speed convertible numbers matching car, It will be done for one of the big auctions next summer (Barrett? I think). He does flawless paint and body work. Including the undercarrage, firewall area ect. If any car will bring the high dollars, this one will...He's been wanting to build a high end buick for years... I will keep you informed...Randy

BuickWidow, yours is just like mine (although a different color) down to the dog dish wheel covers.

68GS400 4spd. Although mine's a bench seat, and I'm guessing you probably have buckets. I've got blackwalls out now too. White letter tires on dog dish wheels look kind of dumb to my eyes.

Mike, you are killing me, I wish you would quit posting BAD pictures of my future car! Save those for when you are going to sell it so no one will want to buy it!

Do you want me to email the "good" ones to you AGAIN????

I wish I could consider myself the younger crowd but it gets harder each day. I have a 70 GS 455 but prefer the 68/69 cars. I hope the value stays the way it is until I can make the switch selling the 70 and buying a 68 or 69 car.

Chris, I'm not sure why you like that other pic so much better. Looks to me like someone installed a telephone pole for a radio antenna and like I said before the white letter tires look out of place on it to me. Anyways, next time I'm back stateside I'm going to have to remember to take some updated pics with the tires turned around to blackwalls. Just that one little thing makes it look a whole lot better to me.

Back to the point. How can this car in showroom shape be worth 25% less than a wrecked GSX with a salvage title? The world is upside down.

Hey, maybe I can start parting it out. Lets see, Jim Lore wants the floor mats, hmmm. Just kidding.
