I rebuilt my 350 6,000 miles ago and the factory gage always was 1/4 of the way at idle(warm) and a little passed the middle marks at 60 mph. the funny thing happened a week ago when I took the car for a drive and noticed the pressure gage to be unusually high(middle point at idle and 3/4 of ther way at 60 mph). I hooked up a mechanical gage and the car sitting at idle is pumping 40 psi. I run mobil one full synthetic 15w-30 oil. The weather here has changed a little(cooler).

Could this be signs of upcoming pupm problems?

The pump was replaced when I rebuilt the engine.

    please help.:(

That's not too high. But it is wierd for it to just change like that. Outside temperature change might be it.

Other than that maybe the regulator is hanging up?

    thanks

I took the regulator out and lokked at it and there is no sign of binding. My next step is going to be changing the oil and looking for metal in the old oil. Although I doubt there is any real problems
