My Cadillac is about on the road, finally, and now I want to put in some tunes. I do not want to mess up the dash, so what has worked best for you?

I want a sub in the trunk, and maybe mids in the kick panels and just maybe tweeters in the doors. Maybe nothing in the back seat. A nice amp in the trunk too.

Oh, and this car is a convertible.

I'm looking for good balanced sound, not banging bass.

Here is a pic of the dash, and as you see I couldn't put a head unit in there without really messing it up anyway.

I'm thinking a head unit with SD or USB input in the glove box and a remote control.

    Thanks for all ideas.

My dd truck has a pretty involved system now. It seems to me that the sound isnt as good when I play music from my phone via bluetooth compared to SD or USB.

Maybe the Wiz shouldn't beat people up so badly when they don't take the time to read all the way through the Power Timing thread...

The Wiz never beats people, not badly anyway:laugh: Yes Briz posted it first, but I actually have this sound system, and wanted to show the OP the features it includes.

I use an i pod run directly to two amplifiers, no dash mods at all... One amp for the 4 speakers and the other amp for the subs. :TU:

I have my deck under my seat, wired to the front dash replacement speaker from Crutchfield. The rear speakers are in the stock 6x9 holes in the back shelf, but my upholstery covers them, so it appears as if nothing is there. You can fit an amp under the front seat also.

I can connect my phone via bluetooth to the deck and i have an ipod cord that runs up between the seat cushion and the back rest. Barely noticeable. I'm very pleased with my set up.

i have considered doing a carputer in mine that way all i have is a usb plug under the dash and can plug in a touch screen and take it out as needed. i can also control it via a tablet. downside is the price at around 800 bucks but i can do anything i could with a dd navi unit.

I have a modern head unit sitting on a shelf just waiting for this project
And just recently picked up a under dash 8-track player which I plan to empty and put the modern CD player in it.
Im following this thread on Georges site http://www.buickperformanceclub.com/CD8track.htm

My only issue will be to move the triple gauge set thats currently in that position

Same here; wanted to position my '8 track' above the hump and under the ash tray and found the under dash air outlet is sticking out 1/4" too much to have the 8 track in that position...probably will just swap place with the gauge set
