    Door Pillar says : Flint , Mi. Plant (#3) . #003772 I gues that's a fairly low

You should be able to tell for sure from the build date on the plate under the hood. 01D for example would be the 4th week of January 64. My guess would be yours is early, judging by the VIN #. Would bet Aug/Sept of 63 or even earlier.
There is an easy way to tell early from late 64 Skylarks on non-A/C cars, but yours has A/C if I recall. The radio bezel on later 64's has the speaker ribs continued over the top of the radio. Early cars were flat, just like the area around the A/C duct. Pic is attached, but not a good one.
Am thinking there is another early/late change as well, but the CRS (can't remember stuff) has set in and don't recall at the moment.

    Mark,
I will have to look up my car's build date based on the info you shared.

I had always thought the flat dash distinguished early from late until I got to looking my car over. I noticed that my car had the smooth dash, but also had the holes in the firewall (with covers on them) for the A/C unit installation. Do you think it is possible the smooth dash was installed on cars with factory A/C prep?

I also noticed my car has the only black molded windshield washer bottle I've ever seen.

Have seen some black molded WW bottles before. Bought one for my first 64 in 1968 that came in white (yea I know, long time ago).
There is another post about the VIN tag and it looks like the car Desertrat was built in Fremont, CA.
His car has A/C, but my current 64 does not. Mine was built in Fremont as well and has the covers over the A/C firewall. D-Con, depending on where your 64 was built, I am suspecting that those built in CA had the A/C firewall whether there was A/C in the car or not. The covers were used to seal the openings for non-A/C cars.
    Pic attached.

I agree on the covers. My car was a Fremont car too, sold in Reno NV. Cloth seat, clock, radio, HD cooling (3-core radiator, which reinforced my suspicion on the A/C prep theory) and power steering were about the only options.

Aside: I ordered a set of the repro door panels from OPGI recently. if they ever show up I'll let you-all know how they look.

    Desertrat,
Is the engine in your car painted green? If so, it either has been swapped with a newer cast iron head engine or someone painted your '64 engine green. The '64 300 engines all came painted silver.
What carburetor is on it? The '64 wildcat 355 should have a Rochester 4GC on it.
If you need any help with question/etc. on your car, feel free to contact me--I did a frame off resto on my '64 Skylark 4-speed car. It has the exact same interior in it as yours (except for the AC, PW and Pseat stuff)

    64' 300

Hey Brian , Steve here . My 64' 300 is the Wildcat 355 . It's got the Aluminum Top End . It had a new cam back in the 80's -90's So it looks like the engine was out . It's painted Green But I really appreciate the info. I'm having alot of Carb problems at the minute .It's sucking air around the Base / Body . I flat files the base plate . It was way out at the corners .After that I put it back on the "Suck" isn't as bad but I can still kill the engine with a good blast of Carb Cleaner ,especially at the left front corner area and around the linkage . The shafts are tight . I'm starting to think that maybe the gaskets are bad , they look pretty old . I'm debating on replacing it with an Edlebrock or Holley instead of trying to get this "pig" sorted out .
    Any feedback ?
    Steve
Great Job on the 64 ' :beer
It's late so I'm going to check the others later on .

Stay with the factory carb--you will generate alot more problems trying to make an aftermarket carb work right on there. The carb that is on it is the only one out there set up to work with that water heated choke like is on it. You need to get a new, thicker gasket to put between the carb and intake. I have one on my car that is about 1/4" thick. It actually came with the carb rebuild kit.
The only problem you should experience with the factory carb. is that the first time you put it on the floor and open the secondaries on the car each time you drive it, it will want to hesitate--that is because the secondary bowl is separate from the primary, and the venturies have to "re-prime" themselves each time you drive it.
I have a big solid lifter cam with roller rockers, ported heads, forged pistons, headers, etc on my '64 and it runs perfect with the factory carb. If I put it on the floor in 1st gear it will start spinning both back tires and pin you in the seat.
