I Bought a set of Hercules H/P 4000 295/50R15 tires the other day. I couldn't get anything else due to a 15" tire shortage in town. I got an inforcement notice from the cops who caught me with worn down semi slicks. Are these tires any good? Has anyone used them before, Anyone happy with them?

i didn't realize they still made them. I had them on a 76 skylark 20 years ago... i liked them. My brother in law has them on his 72 Mach 1. They seem to stick/handle, seem to be like coopers....

I use the Hercules HP4000 275/60/15 tire on my 650HP 72 GS as streettires.

I wanted to test my new TH400 at with the 29.50 tires out last friday on a street legal race (street track no prep etc) but they didn't fit.
So I went on my streettires (Hercules HP4000 275/60/15) to test the new trans.
Trans worked great! Adn made a new PB on streettires 12.15@116MPH I felt 11s ET coming on cause the track was getting better (lost most ET the first 100-150 meters cause the track was slippery and we had some rain drops coming out the air now and then so that didn't help either).

This me doing a run on the Hercules Tires.

I must say they are softer and a much better ride then the Cooper Cobra tires. The Cooper Cobra uses a hard rubber compound, that is not good for grip, only for long term durability.
I used them alot but found them to hard, the Hercules is in ride comfort and grip better then the Cooper.

Sounds good. I'll try them out tonight at Test and tune. I normally launch at 2500rpm with the mickey thompson Semi Slicks. Ran a 12.2 with them. How would you launch if it was a dry track with the Hercules tires? By the way they were $150 cheaper than the last pair of Coopers I bought. Thanks for the info.

BTW you are owning that "Go cart" beside you. What is that car, is it a Lotus?

Launching them at a dry track with a Buick is very difficult.
Best launch method with street tires is to take at easy at the start to not to spin the tires to much and then increasing the power to WOT.
It takes longer to type this then to launch it that way.
I leave the line quart/half throttle and then floor it.:beers2:

This run I owned him yes, cause he mis shifted and made a 13.5 ET run.
And don't forget I was using my streettires:Smarty:
This car runs in the 11.5 easily it has some mods bigger/better turbo and shocks etc mods and dragslicks.
This is a Opel Speedster also sold as a GM USA car with slightly different appearance. Solds as a Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky the Saturn was more like the Opel Speedster. If you want a out of the box fast car then this is it, runs mid to low 12s with ease.

Here some runs of mine with the Cooper Cobra Street tires with my old in 2009 sold engine/trans setup.
Watch the difference in my first run in this vids against the firebird and the second time I run against that same car big difference, after a couple of runs you know how to launch it with streettires.

The Hercules tires went ok at test and tune last night. Launching is tricky.
    Heres what i ran,

    R/T 0.355
    60" 1.919
    330 5.420
    1/8 8.303
    MPH 84.95
    k/mh 136.71
    1000 10.806
    1/4 12.925
    MPH 106.46

The first run totally sucked at 13.820. But 12.925 on street radials I'm happy with. Thanks for the advice.
