got any idea how to get around not having a ignition key???????? a member from this board is comming here in the morning to pick up my 70 and 72 car and I have lost the key to the 72 parts car I need the ignition switched to on so the steering wheel can turn any ideas other than a lock smith on 4th of july weekend. can I just hammer a screwdriver into the slot will this work (it is just a parts car)
since it is a parts car. 1) You could take the steering collum apart and remove the plate that locks the steering wheel (a little time consuming) 2) You could take a punch of some kind and drive the locking pin in. (this will destroy the locking mechinsem)
From personal experience- try various old GM keys that are worn. My Skylark key would start my cousin's Monte Carlo- it was so worn that it would also start my Formula Firebird.
