    <hr style="color: rgb(159, 178, 184);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> I just rebuilt my 401 and started her up today(not the first time I started her up )and she ran for just a little bit. the engine didn't even get real warm and the freeze plug on the driver side blew out. can any one help. I bought the mad dog kit. could they have been just a little bit to small?:Do No:

    It's hard to say for sure unless you actually measured them with calipers or micrometers, and can also measure the freeze plug hole. I dont know what the right "fit" is. My guess is there should probably be a thousandts (.001) or two (.002) "interferance" fit. It's a typical practice to use scotch brite on the seats or emery cloth to clean them before installation. They need to be clean with no paint, scale or rust. Call me anal, but I also like to use high tack on freeze plugs to help "glue" them in.

    Anybody else know what the right "press fit" or "interferance fit" should be for freeze plugs?
