Ok I need help solving a riddle!

3 people share a hotel room- the room costs $30
they split the bill and pay $10 each to the bell boy
he gives the money to the clerk and she says its too much
she says it's a $25 room and she told him to give them $5 back
he didnt know how to divide $5 evenly between 3 people
so he kept $2 for himself and gave each one a dollar back.

NOW- how much did they pay for the room? I think $27 (10-1=9x3)
Then you add the $2 the bell boy took and you get $29
    Where is the other dollar?

They only paid 25 for the actual room......the other 5 bucks was NOT part of the room charge.....

This same "trick" or riddle can be seen very easily in another form -

Hold up both hands with fingers extended.

Starting with your left hand and thumb count down

    10
    9
    8
    7
    6
    ....

plus five on the other hand make 11 fingers :puzzled:
