Rebuilding the suspension on my 70 GS455 convertible, and keeping it stock other than adding the 1/25" front sway bar and 1" back sway bar. Specs are: 1970 GS convert 455 engine - aluminum heads no a/c I have searched the board, as well as the various normal outlets, (Moog, etc), and can't seem to positively identify which front and rear coil springs I need. Any help would be appreciated!
Try this company. The lady there is very good. Just don't make the same mistake I made and tell her that you have aluminum heads. I just told her non A/C and the springs were about 1 1/4 too high. Instead of sending them back I just cut them and it sits right. The fronts were #5536 , which is just a Moog part #, I cannot remember the rears, but I think I should of gone with the variable rate or the "cargo" springs. I see #5385 listed on George's website for the rear springs. Springs and things has all the specs there. Give her a call.. http://www.springsnthings.com/
I have a new set of Moog's,still in the box. I will check the number when I get home. Maybe it is something that you can use. I bought them for a 455 non-AC 4-spd. No power steering or power brakes either. I will likely be using 350 springs because I plan on lightening the front even more.
No. The AC is where things seem to get different. All that AC stuff will easily add 100lbs. I've weighed it all before. I do have the weight comparisons between manual steering and power steering somewhere. The Moog front springs that I have are #5536. I removed them from the box to paint them a steel-silver color, and put them back in the box.
