So I managed to break the head off a throttle plate screw. Then, the tiny screw extractor broke off in the screw. I got disgusted and left it for awhile, now I'm looking for suggestions before I try again to tackle it. That one screw is holding me up.....any suggestions? Thanks.

If you didn't grind off the slotted side, then you might be able to file a thin slot and screw them out from the under side.

Or drill it out and tap it.

    Good luck. Those are frustrating.

I've done that before...didn't end well. I ended up tossing that shaft and dismantling another core for the primary shaft. Those tiny hardened screws are a real bitch to get out once the heads break off.

MAP gas is your friend here - heat the shaft good and hot before you attack the remains of that screw again!

Thanks for you help! Now for some thread chasing.....what size tap would be correct for the original threads. I can't seem to find any small taps online....would this be called M2 ? M4?

They are 3-48 threads, not a common size, usually have to be ordered.

In most cases after drilling to remove broken ones, we just go to 6-32 instead, better deal all the way around...IMHO....Cliff

I just got time to put the carb back on today, and I'm amazed. I got Cliff R.'s book and studied it. I rebuilt the thing with Cliffs kit and help from a lot of you guys. As soon as the fuel hit the carb she fired off and ran probably better than she has in 20 years. In fact, it runs so good now, I'm almost afraid to "fine tune" it. Thanks Again to all of you! -Bob-
