I was looking for NUMBERS on my QJ(72 455GS) and the
only NUMBERS I see on the body are 29244KA---I haven't
been here long but this SEEMS to be entirely wrong :af: for
    my engine---everything I read here starts with a 70xxx,
if this is the wrong carb? could this be why my car seems
so sluggish? Now WHERE can I get a correct 800CFM
    QJ? Thanks Pete

QJ numbers are stamped on the drivers side in the carb main body, between the two throttle shafts - vertically, reading bottom-up. You're right, they all start with either a 17XX- or just a 7XX-.

Thanks James---that is where they are but are completely
wrong---I wonder what engine they go on? Looks like I'm
gonna get a replacement Holley--800cfm. Pete

I think sometimes the stampings are off to the left when stamped, and you didn't get the full number, just the last part of it.

    If you are right
    and put a 70 in front that is a carb for a 69 350 4V
anybody need an original one? Pete

    Holley? Gaaaaa!!!! :error:
Stick with a Q-jet - far better for a non-racing engine, imho. :Smarty:

    Go here, http://www.buickpartsdirectory.com/carbs.htm
there are several links to pages that should help id your carb.

I'd highly recommend sending it to John Osborn (info on that page), it'll cost you less than a new carb, and you'll get one setup for your exact car. :beer
