Irony... lol Guess I'll be looking for a head. Today i decided to go with Walts suggestion and Tap the hole to accept a 1/2 in bolt so i drill with a 27/64 bit. Everything is going well. I'm tapping the hole with success when a piece of metal (not a shaving) comes out. Being that my brother didn't start the hole in the center of the broken bolt out comes the rest of the screw... lol The hole now looks like a snowman

The top part of the snowman (perfectly rounded edge) is the actual hole still threaded. Guess tomorrow morning I will be getting this head plugged with brass.

Question about gaskets.... Can I reuse my gaskets? The head gasket looks completely straight, and I had brand new intake manifold gaskets that I put on before I removed the head. Should i now discard and buy new again?

Naw, pard,,, cant reuse head gaskets.... you can reuse intake manifold gaskets if you are carefull with them and make sure they are good and clean when you put them back on.... and seal them with permatex 300.....

Damn, sorry it didn't work. A machine shop could fix it using a milling machine.... they would use bits that won't deflect like a regular drill bit would. They would drill and plug the large hole, then do the smaller one. No idea what it would cost, but it wouldn't hurt to get an estimate.

Just a little tip: There are much better penetrating oils then WD-40. WD-40 is a great product, but it is intended as a water dispersant, not a penetrating oil. I would use Free All or PB Blaster as a penetrating oil. Some time back a member posted the results of tests which showed that a mixture of ATF and Acetone was actually the best penetrant.

Thanks John. I actually use pb blaster religiously after rusted bolts breaking in the timing cover. I only used the wd-40 cause it was right on the bench. I definitely didn't know abt the atf and acetone mixture. I have both in the house and will try that.

@Walt it was a great suggestion just a flawed execution so I appreciate yours and everybodys suggestions.

Update : the head is being filled with nickel and will be ready Fri.
I pick up another head tomorrow. Any special tools needed to remove these springs?

I actually tried the 50/50 mix of atf and acetone,,,, it made a jell mix that did not work well at all....just use the atf,,, pb blaster,, or candle wax....

I have the heads swapped. To be clear the rocker assembly does not change sides just the heads?

That is how I would proceed. Not that it makes it correct- I'm a nut.
