help identifying my rear end

    i know i'm asking alot, but...
    i want to change my rear end gears. my mechanic said i need a new carrier, and ring/pinion. can you tell from this photo if it is 7 1/2" or 7 5/8"? 26 or 28 spline? thanks alot.

    Is that a Skylark? Looks like you have the 71-2 corporate 8.5"

    The 7.5 and 7.625 are found in the 78-87 G-body models.

    You have the corporate rear, 8.5" which GM used until 1988
    So, any center section parts from 71-87 will work.
    You have 28 spline axles.

    sway bar??

    Is the buick sway bar the same as chevy? like a long v in the middle or does it have that dip like in the pictures. Thew sway bar looks like a g-body sway bar...??? Does'nt it? lol

    That is the wrong sway bar for A body

    Like I said appear to be a G-body rear sway bar. I have a coulpe of them here and that is what they look like. Wish I could see how they bolt up to the control arms. Jim

    unfortunately, that's how i got thecar. should i be concerned?

    No ...Not unless you have wierd tire wear or the car pulls or something like that...Sorry did not mean to alarm you. Have anyother shoots of how it is installed? Jim Just curious :)

    Original Parts Group Shows brand new GM A body sway bars in their catalog if you want one.
