I have a rear end that came out of a 70 GS, but the code isn't buick. The code on the passenger axle tude is CGA0814B. Is this an axle worth keeping? and how is the parts availablity for this? thanks for any help.

If it is an 8.2", not worth a nickle. Scrap it and go with an 8.5" which are cheaper to build, have better parts selection and you can use the center section posi unit from any GM rear from 71-87

CGA decodes as a 2.56 pegleg '70 Chevelle 8.2 c-clip 10 bolt. The 8.2 Chevy rears aren't worth upgrading, but complete, they will sell in the paper to the daily driver-budjet crowd...future parts cars :pp

Personally, don't sell the 8.2 Chevelle rears, but use such rears as "roller" rearends under A-body partscars that set around for a while. Upon pulling the desirable r/e core, to keep the partscar a roller, install the 8.2 chevy rear, using 4 blunt Phillips screwdivers instead of control arm bolts. This makes for quick removal when ready to process the frame out from under a stripped body going to the crusher.
