    here is my guess .....

old quadrajet carbs sometimes have a problem of slowly leaking most of the gas from the carubetor into the intake manifold after the car is shut off.

    here is why....

when the carb is manufactured, they have to drill various holes through the carb body to make interconnecting tunnels for the fuel go to certain places with-in the carb.... after the drilling is finished, they put little plugs in the ends of those holes. after time these plugs may leak.
when rebuilding a carb, the rebuilder needs to clean (really really clean) around the plugs on the bottom of the carb and use some JBWeld or similar product to re-seal around these plugs. whatever is used to seal must be FULLY cured before the carb is re-fueled or the problem will probably re-occur.

find someone who already has an old quardajet laying around and look at the bottom... you will see the little (silver in color) plugs i am talkin about.

if this in your problem and you get it fixed ... depending how bad of a leak it was....you might see a minor improvment in gas milage too.

please keep us posted on your findings.

Cool thanks I'll have to take it off and see what is going on. I have heard that that J-B weld is some good stuff so I'll have to try that thank.:)
