I have a 98 Riv that puts out cold air at the 4 round vents at the passenger side,,,, but the other vents are all just average temp inside the car.... and I cannot do any thing with the ac controlls to change that except turn the thing on or off.... rec.. does seem to make the cold air a little colder but not much....
I have looked at the shop manual untill I am crosseyed and cant make any sense out of the thing..... It took a perverted, diabolical mind to design this thing.....:Brow: :Brow:

You can check the computer(body control module) for DTC's with a scan tool. I seem to recall on some models, you could unplug then re-plug (is that a word?) the electrical connection on the programmer and it would reset itself and function correctly. Doesn't hurt to try, I guess.

I don't believe your typical $200 scan tool will read BCM codes for your Riv.

Doc, similar issues have been discussed and solved on the Rivperformance board, stop on by again and ask for help.

Does it have separate Temp controls for the driver and passenger?
If so, you'll likely find the Blend Door Actuator for the driver side has failed.

David G's suggestion about visiting a Riv specific forum is on the mark. Many cars have a Self Test for the climate control that can be accessed via the control panel. If your car does, the procedure will likely be well known there.
