Is parchment in colour considered white , my trim code on the cowl plate says 164 52 B pnt can any 68/69 gurus help me out here, I want to order new interior for it and need to figure this out thanks Bill
Bill, I do not believe parchment would be considered to be white. It's much more of a tan color, if I recall correctly. It's been a long time though, since I've seen it. My brothers old 68 GS400 was white with parchment vinyl top.
1969 hi david the car is a 69 and it says tr 164 52 b pnt i've figured out the 52 b is signal red and black vinyl top but what colour is 164, I also know it was a bench seat with armrest just can't figure out colour bill
Might need one of our true 68/69 experts to help with this one. Side note: my 68 paint chips booklet indicates exterior code B is a Riviera exclusive, midnight teal metallic. The Riv vinyl top for code B exterior color, is black or parchment. The interior trim for Riviera B cars is recommended as blue, parchment, white or black. You don't mention the 68/69 model you are referencing, is it a Riv, or maybe a special order GS, in Riviera code B paint?
69 stage1 Hi David the car is a 69 GS stage 1 paint is 52 b and by the looks of it is kinda of burgundy red and defintely a black vinyl top, don't have much interior left to tell if its white or tan bill
Here's some 69 codes info, but not for interior. Looks like you have the red figured out correctly. http://buicks.net/years/69/69paint.html
Looks like 164 is black: http://tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/cgi-bin/search/searchpic.pl?1969-buick-pg02.jpg
Now I'm confused. 164 also shows in the Sandalwood listing of codes on that page, besides the black grouping.
In '69 Code 164 is for "Vinyl Bench"-Parchment. 52 = Signal Red B = Black Roof The fisher interior trim code lists it as Parchment (sandlewood). I am not sure if the parchment in '68 was the same in '69. I know the white used in '68 was a one year only since it was not a true white but more of an off white. You could not get a "pearl white" interior in a '69 GS unless you ordered bucket seats. :beer
Pearl White was the closest thing to white you could get in 69. PS... Bill, Legendary has Pearl White in stock and if the holiday sale is still going on, you can get seat covers (front and back), door panels, hedliner, sail panels and a few other odds and ends SHIPPED for under $1000 :TU: And post some pics when you can :Brow: Mike, I have seen GS's with Pearl White bench interiors. Know of a 69 GS Stage with one... ALAN, need your trim book!!!!!!!!!
If it helps.... Check out the 68 and 69 interior gallery at atlantabuick.com I know color varies from monitor to monitor, but it will give you an idea of what your looking for. :TU:
Here's the 69 parchment interior pic from Dave's site. Don't know how accurately it appears on-screen.
George, If that pearl white bench seat interior came from the factory it must have been special ordered. Only pearl white bucket seat interiors were offered on the '69 wholesale order form and the '69 daily reports show zero cars built with pearl white bench seat interior. I am just going by what the '69 documentation that I have says. o No: :beer
Parchment was renamed Sandelwood in 70.. You can see it on here in parenthesis.. Great site Dave we use it all the time!! :TU:
Lengendary calls Pearl 'metallic' Parchment. So, parchment is just a nice, off white/ antique white color. FYI: I don't know who you will use, but Poston has the cheapest seat covers (I was qouted $720 shipped for front/rear seat, front/rear door panels)- but I think they use PUI. With the Legendary sale, I was in the same ballpark.... HTH :beer
Interior George, Send me an email and I'll quote you a price. We're a PUI dealer. If you'd like, I will post a color sample. Also, Thanks for the kind words on the site. There's alot more to come. If you know of something that you think should be on the site, let me know, If I have it, I'll load it. :TU: My Buick info range 1938-2006 David
