Hey guys and gals, I have been having electrical issues with my '62 Invicta
for almost a year now and I am getting pretty pissed off. It all started last
winter in January/February. Everyday I try to start up the car let it run for
a few minutes even in the winter. Well, I went out when it was bone cold turned the key and the car was dead. Didnt even turn over, I could hear the starter engauging (sp?) though. So, middle of winter (cold, very cold but not snowy) I pushed her out and jumped it with daily driver. Drove it around the block a few times everthing seemed fine. The only thing that was different
was at idle the GEN light came on. So, I pulled it back in the garage. Next
day, the same thing. This has been going on for almost a year. It is almost
like a daily routine. My mechanic replaced the voltage regulater, and the
battery. Neither solved the problem. Can anyone help me? I would really like
to get some driving in before it is time to put her away for winter. Thanks guys.

What about the generator??? With the GEN light on I'd think that would be the 1st place to look???

I agree with Yards. Probably the generator needs new brushes, I had the same deal on my 59. Another option is that the belt is loose. Finally, there are probably oil points on the front and rear case of the gen. If those went dry for long enough, the bearing/bushing could be bad now. Take off the belt and see if the gen spins easily by hand. If it does, then replace the brushes and re-oil.
