Hello, I though I had a book on this, either I don't or I can't find it. The tag is from a 65, and I had a person reading it to me over a bad cell phone connection so some digits my be off. ST 65 044455 FB 116687 TR 140 EXG 2DX 4F5 W Thanks in advance, Frank
ST 65 04 44 55 FB 116687 ST 65 = 1965 04 = Buick 44 = base v8 Skylark frame 55 = 4dr 2seat Sportwagon FB = Flint, MI 116687 = sequential body #, different than the sequential production # and the end of the VIN TR 140 = Green vinyl interior your paint code is missing EXG 2DX 4F5 W = option codes, i don't have
Hello, Thanks that helps. Any idea where to find the others? I used to have a book with all that stuff and I can not locate it. I've searched the www and had no luck. Thanks agian, Frank
See how these match up with what you see on the car. E = Tinted windows X= power windows G = ? 2 D = dealer provided AC 2-X = 300 trans 4-F = outside remote mirror 5W= ? or 5 W
E - X - 2X - 4F match, it has no AC so that one is still a ? as well, Thanks for your help, Frank E = Tinted glass? x= power windows G = ? 2 D = dealer provided AC? 2X = 300 trans 4F = outside remote mirror 5W= ?[/QUOTE]
2K = Factory installed AC so I think the code I read (2D)means there was no AC installed from the factory and if it has it the dealer must have installed it. That would still be consistent with your car.
I believe the E on yours is tinted windows but not the windshield I think the W is the tinted windshield alone. The position of the G looks like it should be in group 1 so I do not know it. If it were considered to be in Group 2 it would be a console. In a wagon that is unlikely but I suppose possible. No chance that you have a console is there?
Hello, No AC or console so it is still a mystery. I will see it tomorrow (depending on weather, they are calling for snow) so I will update the post after I get back. Thanks, Frank
The AC or lack there of now appears resolved as stated above as consistent with the 2 D code so as far as I know only the G is left.
Thanks to everyone who helped, Went and saw the car, long story short, lot of filler around the top glass, water damage inside, tailgate window inop, manual window crank installed through 5 inch hole hacked in door panel, paint bad .... Anyhow, long day in bad weather driving (40 car pile ups, wife was in an accident, she's ok) sales people at this dealer were rude etc. etc. Thanks again, Frank
Just looking through my codes for a 67, and group 1-G = power tailgate, I always wondered why that would be an option for our cars...of course, for wagons!!! Now I get it. ou: Hope this helps for future reference for somebody...
