My dad wanted me to inquire about his 71 Skylark that he is setting up as a GSX.
    1) Isn't the trunk lid on the Skylark the same shape as the GSX?
    2) How far down from the top edge of the trunk lid does the spoiler mount?

Also, has anyone ordered from the parts place in Chicago? He ordered and received a spoiler without mounting hardware and a 5inch split on one side.

The trunk lid is the same, but you will have to cut holes on bottom side to gain access to put the bolts in the spoiler. The spoiler will only mount at one spot for it to fit to the trunk lid correctly.

As far as parts place, I think I would send that spoiler back for credit. A new spoiler should come with mounting hardware. And no cracks.

You're kidding! A split in the side on a spoiler from The Parts Place? No or missing or defective hardware? I'm willing to bet that the crack is on the driver's side... with primer inside the crack... How could I guess that? HMMM. Let's see ... Search function

Did you READ the catalog ad, or go online for the parts place? The catalog actually says something to the effect that parts are expected to be chipped, scratched, damaged, etc. This is from another's posting back in 2011. I quote*** "Whats funny is TPP states cracks are expected.. but its ready to prime and paint?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/70-71-72-SKYLARK-GS-NEW-REAR-SPOILER-/330555042284?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessorie s&fits=Year%3A1970|Make%3ABuick&vxp=mtr&hash=item4cf69da9ec

"Due to the fact that this is a fiberglass piece, some repairable minor cracks or chips are to be expected. All mounting hardware is included. Virtually no clean up, just prime and paint; no other supplier can state this." ***end quote"

I expect there to be MINOR sanding required and surface blems, but when I got mine, it had been damaged BEFORE it had even been primered at their end... The "hardware" did NOT fit; One of the nuts was even a different size; The gaskets were not even close to fitting. I had to build up one side pedestal on the front.
Good thing I had some bulk foam rubber to make my own gaskets and stock materials to CORRECTLY mount it. Oh yeah, no inner braces...They wanted me to pay return shipping...Yeah, Right... The returns manager was out of town, and would be getting in contact with me.
As you might guess, they will NEVER see another penny from me.

Has anyone ordered the spoiler from The Original Parts Group and how does it compare to the one at the parts place??
