Apparently, the '65 GS doesn't use the same axle seal as the 66-68 GS and Sportwagon, but uses the same seal as the plain Skylark.....which is much easier to find. You need: GM# 9775115 or Timkin 8594s :TU:
Try www.rockauto.com. google "rockauto discount" to get a current discount code - 5% usually eliminates shipping cost. And don't forget Jim (monzaz) at jdrace.com - he can probably hook you up.
Who's Jim? And is he on the board? I'll always looking to give my business to someone referred. I have a day or two before I need to get these. Thanks ubushaus
Hey Joe, Jim is on the board as "monzaz". You will see him respond to almost everything in the "got gears" section. He is extremely knowledgeable and fair in his pricing. Later,
YEP...i AM HERE and I have the stuff. Pm me and will get the parts out to you asap. I ahve them in stock. The bearing part nuber and seal number are in the ID differential button then 10 bolt 8.2 button then BUICK 65-67 drag down section. pinion is 8620N axle seal is: 8594S 15.00 will probably cover the parts. I will double check to be sure. Jim
I must be invisible!o No: Hey, remember the old TV series 'Soap' where Bart thought he was invisible because everybody ignored him?
Ha ha ha ha!! It's impossible to ignore you buddy!!! Walt, who is the best source for tie rods inners outers and sleeves. Also stabelizer linkss and an idler arm? And thanks always for your vast knowledge.:moonu:
Did you try Wal-mart?:bla: Most agree the best components are made by MOOG. www.rockauto.com has great prices, but I just found a better source.:bglasses: ....would you believe amazon.com..... I saved about $40 on a pair of front springs and ball joints over Rockauto prices. Choose the 'super saver' free shipping option.
Joe, Inner Tie Rods - ES681N Outer Tie Rods - ES333RL Sleeves - ES2032S Idler - Moog K5142 Stab. Links - K5110 Stab. Bushings - K5241 Mark
Thanks Mark. But no link? I'm not too swift with this computer thing. Maybe i'll get the prices first from the local schmuck. And compare.
$197.53 with 5% discount and shipping from Rockauto $187.64 with free shipping from Amazon.com. Rockauto pages don't link well, but try this: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1319363,pgname,Steering For www.Amazon.com, just plug in the part numbers in the search bar. Joe, do you need control arm bushings and ball joints? And are you replacing the coil springs? Mark....do you have original coil spring specs for the 65 GS? I have them for 66. I wonder if they are the same? 66 GS springs match Moog 6033. We should put this info on the 65gs site.
I allready bought the bushings and ball joints from my local guy. 300 for everything. Did I get ripped off? I am going to see how much my local guy wants for all the parts listed above. Thanks Walt.
Moog ball joints average $100 for a set of 4 online. Upper bushing for a '65 are metal, did you get those? Lower bushings are $15 per side. Keep in mind your local guy probably pays more for the parts than Rockauto, who can buy mass quantities at a discount. Hold off on ordering springs until we get the 65 GS specs...see my post on 65gs.com. I wish I could buy local, but between the 1 hour driving time and the price difference, it's nice having parts brought to my doorstep. I often ask if they can match prices...just so the local guy can make a few $$.
