    Safety is KEY

Bobb, you are one tough guy, i LOUDLY applause the fact that you are sharing your thoughts on all this..(safety and tech issues)..glad to see your getting back to the line.

Count me in on the Full Face Helmet, but you already know that.

Full cage, e-brake, and easy to reach switches, its is a must, the readers you reach here will live to thank you if something unfortunate were to happen to them.

Keep em coming Bobb, and heal quick! See ya soon!! :TU:

Thanks for the reply Bob.That story about the hood pins gives me the chills.Someone was truly looking out for ya.I wonder if your linelock could have shorted out or activated somehow, and not let the fluid pass through it to the calipers when ya hit the brakes.Im not sure if fluid can pass through a linelock once its activated.I know it holds pressure, but does it keep pressure from going through it also in both directions? Just curious.I have never activated mine, then pushed the brakes to see if they work.I am gonna try it though.Just wondering if anyone has tried that.Well, take care Bob, and if ya need anything, let us know....TH>

Bobb, I am so glad to hear that you are getting better. A lot has been learned from your misfortune in this instance. We are ALL going to be much safer as a result.

    Take care :TU:

Bobb, nice to see you back up and around, you were in our thoughts since the accident.
Regarding the possible cause for brake failure, check the brake pedal connecting rod,see if it is attached.About 15 years ago while racing "Thumper" I too had brakes on the line, then at the stripe and 126mph there were no brakes,I also downshifted like a maniac and killed the motor, but it sure don't slow up much.Ended up 350 feet into a corn field at the end of the track. It was a bumpy ride but no trees to challenge. The only thing hurt was my pride and a couple black and blue marks, plus tons of mud and corn cobs everywhere. The cause was the pin worked loose from the hole in the pedal during the run and the rod came out of the master cylinder,no brakes!
    Its worth checking.
Again, thank God your OK,hope to see you at our next gathering.

To be honest I truly am leaning in that direction. With the new converter the higher rpm I could hold the better the sixty foots. on Fri I managed a 1.37 out of it when it was 87 degrees in the afternoon. I'm afraid I may have bent the push rod and it may have come out of the master. Not for sure though really need to look at the car. I tell you I would love to pick corn and mud out of the car vs. what I will be doing to it :ball: .

    Bobb,

Glad to see you are recovering. I'll need a new helmet, a new fire jacket and a new pair of pants. I will probably be going to PRI ....maybe we can hook up for the ride down there.

Dave and I are both updating our cars with the full cage, dash cross bars and struts thru the firewall. We'll start on his car when I'm thru with the tranny job I have in the shop right now. Oh yeah, we plan on checking our brakes very carefully......No sh_t!!

Your accident is gonna cost us a few more bucks with upgrades and new gear, but save our butts if we ever need it.

Hope you're feeling better, see ya soon.

    Dave

Bobb - Sooooo Glad you are doing well and on the road to recovery. While I do have a full face helmet (from my motorcycle days....always wore one then for safety) its well out of date now and I always thought "Boy....I got away with it again". No more....count me in on a group purchase.

Your accident has me thinking ALOT about safety and the sanity of running a 12 second convertible .... :Dou:

Just a thought - but we could easily bring at least the helmet "Awareness" to alot of other Car sites here on the Web - if and when you are ready. Certainly the Buick community will benefit from your "experience" .... perhaps the word should be spread further. Again.....just a thought.

    Heal quickly..... :TU: :beer :TU:

    David G de-modded....

I'm interested in the group purchase too. Salem was my first racing experience, and with a high 15sec car, I wasn't too concerned about a helmet. But erring on the side of caution is always a smart move. I'm planning on hitting the local NHRA track next summer when possible, so I better address this ahead of time.

I vote for hooking up our emergency brakes......I'm guilty, too.
It's amazing all the stuff we do to go fast and ignore something easy like the emergency brake.

Take care Bobb....get well soon....don't talk too much.
