Hello everyone, just saying hi. I just picked up a 455 with a turbo 400 trans out of a Electra 225 circa 1975 or 76. I am dropping the block off this week to have it checked out. My plan is to drop it in my 57 chevy. I need help in finding headers, intake, motor mounts etc. I love the torque monster that is the 455.

Larry, your best bet for headers are TA's Shorties. They pretty much mimic the exhaust manifolds in fit, and that leaves all sorts of ground clearance as you'll just have to fab headpipes that are similar to stock ones.

You know, I'm amazed at how many people stuff chevy engines into cars and are required to modify the hell out of the firewall to get the distributor to clear. Our 455s are lighter than big block chevies and the distributor is in the front. Win/Win.

Man, you'll really be ticking off the chevy guys at the car shows now! "You put a Buick engine in a 57 Chevy???" "Yup. Wanna race?"

    WELCOME!!!

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I have seen some of parts that Taperformance has for the Buick. I read the Car Craft Buildup of the 455 and they said the block had to be modified to accept the Taperformance head. Is this a hard mod to do? (Extra bolts for the head.) Anybody have the specs. for how much better these heads flow than the stage 2 head? Also thanks for the info on shortie headers Jeff. Since I am going to drop the front end they will work great! I am already getting comments from my brothers on this build! Mostly negative. Can't wait to show them what Buick power is all about.
I am in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area, Freed, nice to hear from you.

Well, as I recall, the only engine mods to be made are with TA's higher priced heads. The aluminum Stage1 heads are a direct bolt on replacement I believe. You CAN drill for additional bolts, but I don't believe that is required.

Please call Dave or Mike at TA and ask them. They are very happy to answer questions about their products.

And if you join the BPG there is a special deal on TA aluminum heads for members.

Hi Erik, yes I know that's the proper way to spell it but its faster the other way. Speed is life ya know. My Zundapp is a '39 600cc w/sidecar (Ural version). The bike was abandoned outside of Warsaw at the end of WWII by 2 German officers fleeing from the Russians. It ran out of gas. It came to America in the 70's. I still have the original purchase agreement. (In Polish). Nice to hear from another Zundapp owner or former owner.
Thanks for the info Jeff I will call them.
