HEI upgrade for 74 Century

  1. OK guys... I'm cheap...no, really hot rod broke!

I need to upgrade the Century to HEI, should I:

    1) pull one from the junk yard and if so which donor car?

    2) Upgrade the dist. I have....seems pointless! :Brow:

    3) wait until my ship comes in.

Is there a better intake for the junk yard for my 350/ Q-jet?

Can't really afford the edelbrok, Offy, etc.....I can dream though! :bglasses:

    Madcat455 Need..more... AMMO!!!

I thought that GM switched to HEI in 74... My 74 455 from a riv had it from the factory?? :Do No:

Either way... look in basically any buick car from 75+ with small block Buick V8's.... I think they used the Buick 350 up untill 78.

Yes get one from the junk yard. Can't beat the price.

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

HEI was optional in 73-4. Standard in 75.
If you can't locate a Buick 350 HEI in your area, let me know. I have several for sale.
As for the intake, best bet is the pre-73 (non-EGR) intakes. Stock non-egr are very good. Also, set your timing with a vac gage and you will be set.

  5. Thanks! One last one...

Thanks to all for the quick posts...groovy!

Any stock heads from the yard of junk that would bolt on and equal
    a performance gain?

Looking for the obvious more flow, bigger valves...a little bit more compression. Not too much though...octane booster is kinda pricey.

    74 350 Buick SB

    Thanks in advance!
