whats up fellas i haven't been on in a while, i am have done some mods on my 350 but i am not getting the power i expected, will changing my distributor give me more power?
i had it changed on my 72 shortly after a rebuild and i couldnt be happier. gives a good kick in the butt when youre trying to pass someone on the freeway. pete
what type of distibutor are you running on your lark? I have heard about a guy on the forum who rebuilds your distributor according to your car have anyone done that?
i went with a stock gm unit. i beleive it was from a 75 year 350 model. just went down to autozone and told em what i wanted. my girlfriends dad did it for me and seemed to be fairly simple. cut a few wires, changed the connections, got new spark plugs and wires and that was pretty much it. took about 30 min. there is a guy on the board that does that. think his name is dave or dan? i was gonna go this route but i was in the middle of a rebuild so we just did the distributer the same time. the difference was night and day on my car. pete
The stock HEI will be a big improvement. Total advance will increase as well. Daves distributors will be a larger improvement according to those here who have one. I guess it comes down to what you have to spend on it right now. My stock unit works great on my stock engine, however, when I do the cam an intake swap I'll be ordering a high-perf unit from Dave.
I used a stock HEI dizzy I bought on e-bay. We replaced a few parts, and put it in. Now my points weren't in the best shape, but after installing the HEI, the car started much easier.
Hooray for HEI. I swapped my points for HEI as well (thanks to Dan's, Floydsbuick, suggestion). Another Dan suggestion was to make sure you gap those plugs. I've got mine at 45. MARK
