Anyone have any info on the grudge race? Did they run? If so, who won?

Either Doug caught Stan napping or he got the big "red eye"....... Stan is very tough at the line....excellent reaction times....

    So what happened???

Be glad you're in BG....Its pouring again here in Cleveland....Flood Warnings all over Northern Ohio........

Actually, we raced five or six times and I got spanked all but one! My hat is off to the "Zerucha Brothers". They had the heat, humidity, and the track figured out pretty darn well. A couple of times that Stan beat me, I was even with him or ahead of him at the 1/8th mile....only to have him run away from me the rest of the way. That car flat-out MOVES on the top end and Stan is a hell of a lumberjack. I'm looking forward to mixing it up a little and redeeming myself in Salem. See Ya there! :TU:

    Hey Doug
At least you are out there running w/o breakage. (knock on wood)
How was the bite? From the pics it looks like it was better than previous years.......

Is Rick getting his stuff together for Quaker?

Everytime these 2 ran, it was close. Doug had some early problems with his vacuum pump/valvecover seal. The Zeruchas car was awesome, went down the track straight as an arrow.

Bruce, the bite was off somewhat, due to the heat and humidity. The track staff kept after it, but that's a pretty tall order at any track when it's that hot out (93 degrees with 100% humidity!) I'm always amazed that some GSCA members actually want the Nats to move to June. A few years back, when it WAS in June, the conditions were even worse! Last year, (in May, BTW) with temps in the mid 70s all week, the hook was AWESOME! My 60 ft times were off 5 or 6 hundredths this year (1.31 avg. vs 1.26 normally), but a lot of that was my fault for going out there with tires that were just about dead. Paul Pirnat was doing his usual HUGE wheelies, so it couldn't have been TOO bad! Of course, a lot depends on how you've got your car set up. I'm set on maximum kill, so when the slicks are shot and the track is too hot, wheelspin is inevitable! I stopped at Summit Racing on my way home from BG and bought new hoops. I think that will get me right back in the eights! :TU: Are you coming to Salem in August? If so, see ya there!

    Hello Everyone,

I must say that it was fun racing Doug 5 times in a few days. It was more fun listening to Doug and Dad go back and forth with who was going to outrun who.

On Thursday morning we arrived at the track. It was already very warm so we hurried up to the starting line (at 8:45 am) and make an easy pass and see what the converter was going to do. So... dad gets up to the line and lets it wrip. The car leaves the line hard... with wheels up. As soon as the car got to the 1/8 mile dad let out of the gas for some reason. I dont know why:Do No: But thats OK. I then turn around and who is the first person I see. My buddy Doug. Hmmm.... I am not sure what he was trying to find out but again... thats OK. He is allowed to watch

Anyhow a few hours later (12:32 pm to be exact) Doug asks us if we are ready. Of course dad says.... YES.
Temp is already in the low 90s
RH is up in the 70s

Pre-Staged... then Staged... There offfff.... They BOTH went red.
Dad had a -.046 and Doug had a -.026. Doug ran a 9.103 @ 148.38 to our 9.040 2 151.20 . Sooo.... I say to John Csordas.... "Its a do over it must be a clean race". John agreed.

    The second round...
This round took place at 3:02 pm. The temps wer now in the high 90s. Sticky wet and just plain old crappy feelin weather.

Anyhow.... Both left the line in good shape this round. Doug cut a .156 light to dads .072. At the finish line it was STAN first. Dad ran an 8.980 @ 151.82 to Doug's 9.113 at 148.25.

I then go back to our pits... Dad is already over by Doug and they are settling the situation. Or should I say.... collecting his $10.

So... I thought this was over.... BUT NOOOOO. Doug and Dad are still going at it. They ended up racing 3 more times. I think Doug did beat us to the finish line on Friday or Saturday. But I think he may have left first... I am not sure.

I still think Doug did OK though guys..... Thursday night we were invited to go have dinner with the Northeast Chapter. Doug and I actually did a few shots to celebrate the event. What were thoughs shots called again Doug???? Also.... someone HAS TO POST THE PICTURE OF DOUG AND THE WAITRESS. Trust me everyone. He was the true winner of the day!!!!!

It was a great time and thanks for racing Doug!!!!! Hopefully you will get that vacuum pump fixed and ready for Quaker City.

Also... thanks again to the Northeast Chapter for letting us invade your dinner party and for buying us a few drinks!

    Take Care

John, you guys are welcome to hang with us ANY time! I can't repeat the name of those shots because this is a family-oriented BB. As for the waitress.....Her name was Carla.:TU:
I had a blast racing you guys and I actually did get the vacuum problem fixed on Friday, it was a sucked-in valve cover gasket! After that, it was smooth sailing, with 14 " of vacuum, just like before! :TU: Puttin' the new hoops on at Stage1 Auto tomorrow, and I'll be heading out to E-Town or Atco, ASAP, to see if that picks her up. I'm kicking myself for not getting the tires after Norwalk. It wouldn't have been much of a detour to go to Summit on my way down to BG. Oh Well, I had fun, spinning or not! :TU:

All I can say is my hat is off to these guys-they both did an excellent job and are true sports to this hobby. When it came to the decision as to who was going to win,it was tough.I like both these guys- they ran the best they could despite the hot weather.

WOW it sounds like it could be anyone's race in Salem!

What was the bump for Q16 in BG?

Doug said "It wouldn't have been much of a detour to go to Summit on my way down to BG. Oh Well, I had fun, spinning or not!"

Hey Doug, try Harlow Racing Tires. They have a shop right there at Norwalk Raceway Park (or they ship UPS). Jim Harlow (the owner) is a great guy and knows tires and they mount and balance onsite very quickly. They also match any advertised price including Summit and Jegs. Rick Miller, Bruce Wilson and myself all had tires mounted at Norwalk on Sunday (during the rain) and Rick even bought new wheels and tires for his trailer.

Doug, had you made the detour to Summit on the way to Bowling Green........then you and Carl wouldn't have been able to have lunch with me while you were on your way home!

Yeah Doug the plan is to bring "Bad Kitty" (aka JAGUICK) to Quaker. I've fabbed up some drag shocks and need to press the sheet metal guy to finish my hood and I should be ready to run.

Should be some good air this weekend.......you'll be in the eights every run for sure! I wish I could run but have one of those family obligations that always seem to happen when the barometer is high and the temp is cool!

    Good luck
    Bruce
