Heater Core?

    The History:
Went for a ride in the car today to let the wife drive it in the church parking lot. While driving to the church I smelled something "Sweet". I thought it might be the waterpump or a cracked line, so I checked under the hood. When I found nothing wrong I went to get in on the passenger side and looked down. I saw a little liquid on the rubber cowl skirt.
    The Question:
I would like to fix this temporary as I will be doing a restore this coming winter. Is it possible to just hook up the hoses so one circulates from the front of the engine to the back, and the other from the intake to the outgoing side of the heater?

yes, when mine went i just took the hoses off the heater core and used a piece of pipe to connect the two hoses. they are two different sizes 5/8 and 3/4 if you get the right size pipe you can stretch the hoses to fit. then you can fix later when you have time. thats what i did with mine.
