It is a pain. Do it right and take off hood and right fender and wheel well. Disconnect two hoses and then take heater box off under dash by removing nuts inside engine compartment. Not worth trying to shortcut by just loosening inner wheel well as pain in the but as well.

Here we go again!! The manual says to remove the fender, but if you look at the plastic cover over the assembly on the inside of the car, you will see in the bottom right hand corner, a round emboss. If you drill a 5/16 hole through the middle of the emboss, you will take out the stud that requires the fender removal. Then follow the directions in the manual and you can pull the core. When reassembling the unit, a little dum-dum in the hole will disguise what you did, and the three remaining bolts hold the assembly just fine.

I guess that would be easier. But how many times in your life are you really gonna change a heater core anyway. I'm installing a no AC delete box on my firewall. And it is a pain to take off inner an outer fenderwell. Well while every thing is apart I'm replacing heater core, blower motor an doing a little patch near radiator. Cause we all know how they rust from the battery acid there. And replacing rubber bushings at the radiator support/fender mount. I've always hated where they designed the blower motor at.

As stated, follow the old threads. I had to do it the hard way (figure it out as I went along). It really isn't that bad, just time consuming. The help posted in previous threads will make it go as easily as can be expected.
