Hello all. Haven't posted in a while. I've been real busy with the family and am just now getting back to working on my 75' Regal. I repaired the driver's side floor pan and it came out pretty good. I am now upgrading to a 3 core aluminum radiator. So, while I was at it, I figured I should replace the leaky heater core. Only problem is that my Buick service manual is very vague on how to do it. It only says to remove four bolts and control linkages. I tried to find something on "Youtube" but most of the stuff is for later model cars. I have already removed the heater hoses from in the engine bay and three nuts that tighten to studs coming through the fire wall. I removed the venting tubes under the dash but the whole plastic unit that houses the core doesn't seem to be coming off. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks again guys. Mario.
Is it an air conditioner car? Should be 6 bolts/ studs as far as I remember. Pulls down form inside. There will be a sealer on it so it may just be stuck. Ac can have a top vent or defroster vent screwed to it.
3 on top 3 on bottom . You may need to pull inner fender to get to them, on my car I did. Here's a chevelle firewall. Note the holes around the unit. Look in same areas. Ac units are similar enough.
Thanks Alec. That photo helps out a lot. I will try and locate those other three studs on my car. Mario.
easy removing the heater box & somewhat difficult disconnecting the cables but damn hard reinstalling the box & reconnecting the cables. Did that 2 months ago.
