I'm trying to find the power lead for my heater blower motor. The car is a '72 non a/c car. The chassis manual says that there is a black wire with an orange tracer to it from the fuse block. The wires in my fuse block aren't 100% correct(as the chassis guide)but they are original. I did find a black with orange tracer that goes to the wiper motor. After peeling away all the tape from the harness, I did find a black wire with a tan color tracer on it that was cut and tucked in the harness. It's not faded as the other black and orange wire isn't faded either. Could this be the wire that I'm looking for? The engine is out and the wire harness is all loose so I can't throw a battery in it. Any clues?:Do No:

Thanks Gerry. Something just doesn't add up. The book says its supposed to be a blk/org wire. It actually shows two. One to the blower and one to the wiper motor. I have one to the wiper motor that's not faded at all and a blk wire with a tan or brown tracer that reaches about half way across the blower case.

    blower wiring

    ray:
checked my wiring & i am sure that it is the original .
the wiper motor & the blower motor use the same coloured wire but plug into the fuse block in different locations which means that they are not directly related to each other . blk/org is actually blk/yellow (by my eyesight). there should then be a blk/yel wire in the engine wiring harness that would connect to the blower motor .
the tan wire could be for a/c & since it is unused the end was cut off & the wire tucked in .
when i had my motor out last year , i opened up the harness for engine bay and actually removed a couple of wires that had been cut & tucked .
    hope this helps .

I'm hoping that's the case. The car had an add on air unit under the dash that has been removed. I might grab an ohm meter or continuity tester to test the wire. There's only may be 10 wires that come from the fuse box to the engine and right side. There's the other smaller half of the fuse block that goes to the lamps and horns. I'm confident that it's the right wire but I'd rather be safe and ask then burn it up. Thanks, Gerry.

There is another black/org wire in that harness that goes to the trans kickdown switch.
Use a meter and hook one end to the heater fuse and the other to the wire that you think is right and check for continuity with the switch in the on position then turn it off to see if you loss continuity.
